yo simon,
I'm afraid I don't have any information on amazon's stock or shipping times, but I know that O'Reilly is printing books steadily now to keep up with demand.

Thanks, I didn't know I was able to order from Amazon.com from Canada. I just went to the site and it says ship in 1 to 3 weeks. Is that right or is it an error?

Can't wait to get this book and start to do a bit of AS3 :-)

hi simon,
i don't think 6 copies is considered a volume order, so i doubt you'll find a discount source. but amazon.com lists the book at US$34.64. with the canadian dollar exchange rate right now, amazon.com might be your best bet.

Great news, I will order some for sure.
Amazon.ca didn't get the books yet, but Chapters.ca have them since a couple of days. Someone know when Amazon.ca should get them?

Also, where I am working, they want to order several books, is there somewhere I can order 5-6 books (or maybe more) and get a discount?

Thanks!

Same problem w/ my Amazon pre-order - and after talking to two different customer service reps and a manager, they still couldn't promise me a shipping time any earlier than the end of August. So I promptly canceled the order, walked a few blocks over to the local B+N and picked up a fresh new copy there. Sure, it ended up costing me about $20 more, but instant gratification is a beautiful thing. I'm only a couple chapters in, but it seems like a great update to an already great reference. Thanks, Colin!

My order was showing the same thing on Amazon, so I just canceled it and reordered it. Now shows it'll arrive in a week.

amazing - I also got pissed at Amazon for delaying to August and cancelled the order...

Posted by: nylarch at July 2, 2007 07:26 PM

I'm definitely buying it!

Ps: Maybe you should change the link to the O'REILLY page in your 'order now' page, it still refers to the uncut version.

I also had the same problem with Amazon telling me that the expected date was going to be Augest 20th. I was steamed and canceled my order. I just went to the oreilly.com site and ordered it and had it with in 3 days of ordering it.

Can't wait to dig in.

When I spoke with amazon about my expected delivery date (August 20th), they informed me there was a glitch in the system which would need to be corrected on the warehouse side. They then assured me my shipping information would be corrected on Monday.

I have been waiting for this ever since AS3 was announced. I'm going to order it tomorrow. Thank you Colin.

I preordered from Amazon USA and they said I would finally have it around middle September... I live in Greece - I was frustrated and cancelled order. Can I order straight from you? Or should I try again From Amazon?
Thanks
Dimitris

steve: no idea, but if you ordered from amazon.com, you should talk to them directly. all i know is that the book has been shipped to retailers, and that amazon.com now shows it in stock.

now i get to work on unity again :) and i'll probably do some ActionScript 3.0 lectures...stay tuned...

Posted by: colin at June 29, 2007 10:28 PM

Why does Amazon say I won't receive it until August? I pre-ordered in April.

I can't wait to dive in. I'm sure it'll be another masterpiece. Colin, maybe you can have a life now! ;-) Thanks for all of you hard work and dedication. A Jedi Master you are.

Posted by: colin at June 29, 2007 10:07 PM

Chapters.ca has a release date of the 30th and Amazon still has it as pre-order.
