just to be clear, i'm not currently working on an updated edition of asdg. my next project will complement, not replace asdg. by and large, you should be fine with your current copy of asdg2, even when working with flash mx 2004.

Hi,
Another new version...within an year..amazing...
we are wondering here whether to buy your book at all...when we are almost done with the book a new version of flash comes up...but no REGRETS..keep up the good work

Posted by Ankur at September 9, 2003 11:39 PM

justin: no plans to cover swishmax.

sedas: the fundamentals you learn in asdg2 will still be useful for 2004. and the language reference will still apply to 2004, with the exception that new classes and minor changes introduced by 2004 obviously aren't covered.

pauline: i can't release many details yet, but yeah, asdg2 is pretty much as big as a book on the topic should get. my future writing plans should help address the size issue.

Any plans to cover SwishMAX script... maybe as an appendix?

Can't wait. :)

Any chance of a slimmer tome that would serve as a complement to asdg2? One that just goes over what's new/additional?

We'll wait patiently, and purchase immediately. Thanks Colin!
