Strut Tower Bar for my 1988 BMW 325 (e30)

<< Back to 325

Aug 2010. Odometer 293198km. Recently, I picked up a used strut bar to help stiffen my front suspension. I wasn't really looking for a strut bar, but the opportunity came up and I was curious to see if it would have any effect on the feel of the car.

The Components

The Result

On its own, the strut tower bar did not make dramatic difference to the feel of the car, but is a net contributor to the car's stiffness and cornering stability. The bar also arguably protected my suspension and steering rack when I hit the front end at Mosport (at the expense of bending the passenger's shock tower from an impact on the driver's-side fender).
