Unity 2 Service Providers (USPs) offer professional, reliable Unity 2 Multiuser Server hosting at reasonable rates.
USPs can host any version of Unity 2 Multiuser Server, including Express (100 users) or Professional (no user limit). This gives you the flexibility to manage a short, small project or a long-term, heavily loaded multiuser application. If you own a Unity licence, you can have your USP install and run it for you; conversely, some USPs offer licence rental on a monthly basis.
USPs also provide hosting for Unity 2 Ready-made App Packs such as uMiniChat and uAvatarChat.
Hosting a multiuser Unity application with a USP is perfect for:
- Unity 2 App Pack users who don't want to run their own Unity 2 Multiuser Server.
- Developers without the experience to run a server-side Java application.
- Developers whose regular ISP do not allow server-side Java applications.
- Developers who would rather outsource hosting than manage it themselves.
- Developers who want to use Unity 2 MySQL data persistence, but don't have experience with MySQL.
- Users who would rather rent a Unity licence on a monthly basis than invest in a full licence.
When you host your Unity application with a USP, you have complete control over your Unity server. You can still develop custom server-side rooms and other Java classes. In fact, you can even run your entire website on your USP's server. The only difference between running your own Unity 2 Multiuser Server and renting it from a USP is the USP keeps the server up and provides internet connectivity.
Use the following list of officially approved USPs to find the one that's right for you. Note that if you plan to develop multiuser Flash applications, you'll need to purchase UClient for Flash in addition to hosting.
