Unity 2 App Packs are ready-to-use multiuser Flash applications. Unity 2 App Packs can be anything from a chat to a game to a business application, but they all share the following in common:

  • Unity 2 Multiuser Server Required
To run an App Pack, you need to either run the Unity 2 Multiuser Server yourself, or rent service from a hosting company (see below).

  • Post'n'Play
If you already own or rent Unity 2 Multiuser Server, you can post any App Pack to your website and run it in minutes.

  • Customizable without Flash
Unity 2 App Packs can also be customized via external configuration files, without even using the Flash authoring tool. For example you can change the colours and fonts of most App Packs without opening Flash.

  • Customizable with Flash
When you buy an App Pack, you get the source .fla file for the application. Any Flash designer can visually skin or redesign the application without writing a single line of code.

  • No Programming Required
App Packs are intended for use by non-programmers. Even if you've never touched Flash in your life, you can still use a Unity 2 App Pack.

  • Cost Effective
Unity 2 App Packs give you an inexpensive way to add sophisticated functionality to your website. It's simply impossible for a paid programmer or web agency to recreate a Unity 2 App Pack for less than it costs.

Getting Unity 2 Multiuser Server for Your App Pack
Every Unity 2 App Pack requires Unity 2 Multiuser Server to work. There are two ways for you to get Unity 2 Multiuser Server:

  • Install Unity 2 Multiuser Server on Your Site
If you can run Java applications on your website's server, the cheapest way to run Unity 2 Multiuser Server is to buy it and install it on your site. Server licences start at $99 for 100 users.

  • Rent Unity 2 Multiuser Server Hosting
If you can't run Java applications on your website's server (or you simply don't know how), you can rent service from a Unity hosting company. Get full details here.

Whichever option you choose, configuring your App Pack to work with Unity 2 Multiuser Server is simple: just set the server's host and port in the App Pack's XML config file. For full details, consult the instructions for your specific App Pack.
