uAvatarChat is a fun, friendly way to chat with visual characters in addition to traditional text-based chat. Here's uAvatarChat in action...pick a character and say hi!
- Fun Characters
Choose from 25 different chat characters.
- Text-based Chat Transcript
Press the + button to show the chat transcript.
- Expressive Sounds
Press the speaker button to mute all sounds.
- Group Backgrounds
When enough users choose the same character, the background automatically changes to a custom scene. For example, ghosts get a graveyard [view screenshot], spaceships get outer space [view screenshot]. (Not all characters have a custom background.)
- Character Thoughts
Don't just say things, think them too! Use "/thot message" to send a thought. For example: /thot I wonder if he likes me?
- Character "Emotes"
Narrate the chat with comic-style actions (known as "emotes"). Use "/me message" to form actions. For example: /me jumps for joy!
- Typing Notification
See when other users are typing a message.
- Idle Notification
See when other users have been inactive. A "Zzz" icon appears next to idle users after 5 minutes of inactivity. You can also manually display the inactive icon by sending "/away", "/afk", or "/zzz" as a message.
- Stored User Preferences
uAvatarChat remembers your name, character, and chat settings (e.g., mute on, chat transcript on).
- Length-Sensitive Message Bubbles
Messages with more words stay on screen longer for easy reading.
- Configurable Settings
Easily change the following chat features via an XML file [view example xml file]:
- specify the help page url
- set the amount of time it takes for the inactivity icon (Zzz) to appear
- set the amount of time message bubbles are displayed
- set the default character to use when none is selected
- set the avatars available in the chat
- set the speed at which avatars move
- set the maximum length of chat messages (i.e., number of letters allowed)
- set the number of characters required to trigger Group Backgrounds
- enable or disable the chat transcript by default
- set the size of the region within which avatars can move
- Multiple Chat Rooms
